6. Past, Present, and Future Projects

The Gilead Institute seeks to promote the gospel and the righteous principles of God's Word through the distribution of tapes and many pieces of literature in the form of flyers and books. Most of the organization's evangelistic materials consist of the inspired writings of the Spirit of Prophecy, while others are put together by the organization itself. The Institute also puts out a magazine and a newsletter from time to time, as well as instructional flyers on health and other topics.

During the first few years of the organization's existence, all magazines, tapes, and literature were sent out to everyone from month to month "free of charge." In recent years, however, some of its publications have had to be sold in order to cover the cost of printing and distribution. However, since it is the organization's genuine purpose to make the truths of God's Word available to all in a non-commercial fashion, it still offers some of its materials free; hence, during its literature distribution campaigns many of the Institute's publications are still given out to the public at no charge.

The organization gets its income from donations, free will offerings, training programs, sales, and other things of a self-supporting nature. It has also established different avenues for providing health products and services to others, whereby it can assist as many people as possible to achieve the maximum benefit to their mental, physical, and spiritual well-being.

The Institute also serves as a support group or mechanism for those who desire organization and encouragement to maintain a godly lifestyle and a total vegetarian diet in the face of all the odds that confront them on a daily basis. And through the health food club the Institute provides various health foods and products to those in need.

Working alongside these tools are the organization's educational programs. Through self-improvement lectures, and the medical missionary evangelistic health and religious classes, students are provided more insight into the outlook and habits that contribute to a better physical and spiritual life. The eight natural laws of health are highly stressed in the health classes, and through this means alone many have increased their abilities to maintain good mental and physical health. In addition to the health courses are Bible study and evangelistic training classes, which provide a knowledge of the principles of righteousness and effective techniques for giving Bible studies.

Many of the Institute's graduates have testified to having experienced major changes in their lives. Some of the students express that as a result of taking these courses they experience better mental and physical health, others talk about having become better Christians, and still others speak of being happier and healthier human beings on a whole. Surely all heaven rejoices to see and hear these wonderful testimonies. The positive outcome of this form of work continues to give more and more strength to the prophetic words:

"I can see in the Lord's providence that the medical missionary work is to be a great entering wedge, whereby the diseased soul may be reached." Counsels on Health, p. 535.

Since it is the Gilead Institute's goal to provide training and information that will enlighten others regarding living better and happier lives, we shall increasingly utilize time management presentations, stress reduction programs, stop smoking seminars, substance abuse and aids education, spiritual enlightenment, as well as lectures regarding how to preserve our natural resources and environment. Through these classes and lectures, along with other projects, we hope to relieve the pain and suffering of many in our communities, deliver souls, and help to save our planet. To this end, the organization invites different speakers to give lectures from time to time.

By earnest efforts and the grace of God the organization plans to continue to make a difference wherever it is possible. As time and means allow, the Gilead Institute also plans to expand God's work by networking all the faithful and opening up sanitariums, health agencies, training institutions, outposts, new missions, schools, restaurants, natural healing centers, and places that will provide health and healing for young and old.

"Slowly but surely the wheel of Providence is turning. We know not how soon our Lord will say: 'It is done.' His coming is drawing nigh. Soon our opportunities for work will be forever past. Only a little while longer shall we be permitted to labor. My brethren, will you not strive with earnest effort to establish memorials for God throughout the Southern States? Churches should be raised up; houses of worship should be built; small schools and sanitariums should be established; and the publishing interests should be strengthened." Testimonies for the Church, Vol. 7, p. 235.

"I saw jets of light shining from cities and villages, and from the high places and the low places of the earth. God's word was obeyed, and as a result there were memorials for Him in every city and village. His truth was proclaimed throughout the world." Testimonies for the Church, Vol. 9, p. 28-29.

Since it is this organization's objective to teach and heal, then by God's grace, any and all divinely acceptable and legitimate means available to alleviate the pain and suffering of man and beast will be pursued and incorporated into the outreach projects conducted by the Gilead Institute of America. It is the organization's goal to establish many memorials or lighthouses for the Lord's children to come into contact with the Great Physician and the wholistic truths of the three angel's messages. Thus, it is our desire to help as many as possible to receive the preparation to stand in the final crisis and be ready for the kingdom of God.
